CALGARY INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL
BEST FIRST FEATURE FILM AWARD
JURY STATEMENT

"The choice was exceedingly difficult such was the quality of the films in the First Canadian Feature Film Award category. One hopes for this when given the honour of sitting on a festival jury. We're happy however to give the award to Eve And the Fire Horse, for its layered portrait of a family in crisis, as utterly charming as it is truly moving. Mixing ancient lore with new ideas, mythology with established western religion, superstition with science, Eve And the Fire Horse succeeds in awakening a universal and rewarding experience for audiences as they cheer for a new generation striving to make sense of their lives in a modern world."
